About Us
Overview
The Sunshine Coast Dragon Boat Club is a non-profit society
formed in December 2009. The club has a board, made up of 6
elected Directors and 3 appointed members.
Board members are elected at our Annual General Meetings and
we encourage members to volunteer and participate by joining
the board.
The board oversees operations and financial matters relating to
dragon boating on the Sunshine Coast. Our financial year is
November 1 to the following year Oct 31.
Our membership is based on a calendar year, with membership
fees due January 31 each year.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
•
To promote the sport of dragon boating on the Sunshine
Coast.
•
To provide equal opportunities for people to engage in all
aspects of dragon boating, either for recreational or
competitive racing purposes.
•
To assist individuals to maintain a healthy lifestyle
through paddling and fitness training.
•
To encourage paddling opportunities without prejudice or
bias, for people of all ages and abilities in the community,
including persons dealing with breast cancer.
•
To be a positive influence in our community by
participating in community events.
MEMBERSHIP DETAILS
•
Currently, our club has adult members with a wide variety
of ages. We are always hoping that our youth living in the
community will come and paddle with us.
•
Our paddling season is from the beginning of April to the
end of September.
•
We paddle on the beautiful waters of Porpoise Bay from
out of the MacKenzie Marina.
